Alternative Cancer Therapies

 Step 1: Detoxification of the body:

The five channels that the body uses for elimination of toxins include: the lungs, the skin, the kidneys, the bowels and the liver. Do not underestimate the power of these detoxification programs, they are the foundation for recovery and must be followed if positive results are to be obtained.

Natural herbs will be used in this process, but not the herbs that are commonly sold in most health food stores. Most of these are of such poor quality that they will cure no disease whatsoever. Prepackaged capsules and most of the liquid tinctures sold are just watered down garbage so don't use them. There are no government controls on the potency or quality of food supplements since they cannot be advertised as having any medicinal benefits. As a result most are worthless and that is why people seldom get positive results from taking these products. Grow your own or buy the herbs from reputable organic growers; a list is provided at the end of this article showing the best places that I have found to buy them. These companies, I have found, have the ethical decency to sell quality herbs without government intervention. They are governed by a silent code of ethics and a true desire to help those in need.

Liver flush: Mix the following ingredients and thoroughly blend them. Drink the contents each day in the morning for 5 consecutive mornings. On the second morning increase the garlic to 2 cloves and the olive oil to 2 tbs. Continue to increase each day up to 4 cloves of garlic and 4 tbs. of olive oil if possible. Fifteen minutes after drinking this mixture drink a cup of peppermint or ginger tea. Do not eat any food for at least 2 hours. Use only fresh oranges or apple juice for this mixture.

8 oz. of freshly squeezed orange juice, or apple juice

8 oz. of distilled water

1 clove of fresh garlic

1 tbs. of olive oil

1 small piece of fresh ginger, about 1 in. long

Colon cleansing: There are two parts to this colon cleaning process, the first one will cause your colon to contract to expel the residual fecal matter the may have been in your system for years. The second part consist of detoxification materials that will pull toxic matter out of intestines and your colon.

Part 1: 2 parts cape aloe or Turkish Rhubarb

1 part Senna leaves and pods

1 part Cascara Sagrada aged bark

1 part Barberry root

1 part goldenseal root

1 part cayenne pepper, the hottest you can buy.

If you can't get all of the supplies then use what you can find. Take one capsule the first day and then 2 capsules the second day and continue increasing the dosage each day until you can feel the effects and are having regular bowel movements. You will get some cramping and this is normal. The cascara sagrada, the senna and the cape aloe all contain a substance called emodin which cause the muscles of the intestine to contract. Continue this formula for approximately 2 weeks. Now you can proceed to part 2 which will detoxify your body.

Par t 2: 1 part bentonite clay

2 part apple pectin

1 part activated willow wood charcoal

2 part flax seeds

7 parts psyllium husks

1 part fennel seed

2 parts slippery elm inner bark, aged

This formula will remove old fecal matter from the walls and the diverticula of the intestines. The dosage is approximately 1 heaping teaspoon of this dry mixture with 6 oz. of freshly squeezed fruit juice and follow this with a large glass of spring water. Repeat this 4 to 5 times a day for about 3 days. This is an important part of the detoxification program as this mixture will rid the body of hundreds of poisons, toxins, heavy metals and some radioactive materials. This mixture will also remove pharmaceutical drug and drug residue. Be somewhat careful if you are on some life supporting prescription drug as it may well be absorbed by the above.

Detoxification through the skin: The skin provides a major channel for the body to detoxify itself. We often use deodorants to cover our smell or eliminate perspiration. Think of standing next to someone on a hot day that has not bathed for some period of times. The smell would be overwhelming. This is because the body is detoxifying itself through the skin and we are going to help it do just that in a controlled way.

It is very important to shower daily and to scrub your skin with a rough cloth or a lofa sponge with soap. This will open the pores and aid in the elimination of toxins from your body. Do not use anti-persperents as this prevents the elimination of toxins through the skin.

Part 2: Strengthening the immune system

There are a number of naturally occurring substances and herbs that have a positive effect on the immune system and encourage the generation of T and B cells used by the immune system. We will cover these over one at a time.

Echinacea:

One of the best immune enhancers that is available is Echinacea. There are claims that it cures the incurable viral, bacterial infections and it has been use to treat cancer since the last century. Credit for the discovery of this natural cure has to be given to the North American Indians. They had, for hundreds of years, successfully treated various infections and used echinacea to strengthening the body. You will find very little information on this herb in the medical annals as it has been neglected in favor of the more modern drugs. Dr. Richard Schulze a famous herbalist used this and other herbs with a great deal of success in building up the immune system and curing so called "incurable" diseases including cancer.

Echinacea has nine known species, all native to the United States. The plant is of the sunflower family and the most popular species used for medicinal purposes is Echinacea angustifolia and Echinacea purpurea. It has been found in many scientific tests conducted worldwide to stimulate and boost almost every aspect of the immune system. It is the root that is the potent part of the plant. One of the ways that echinacea can be prepared is to cut the root up into small pieces and place approximately 1 level tablespoon into a saucepan with 16 oz of distilled water. Simmer, don't boil, this slowly for 1/4 hour then pour through a sieve and drink this a cup of this mixture 4 to 5 times daily. Alternatively you many make or buy a tincture of this herb. If you do I would recommend that you purchase it from one of the few organic herb growers in the U.S. There are so many brands of inferior echinecia on the market today that it is unwise to trust your health to some watered down or incorrectly produced product that will give you no medicinal benefits.

I would recommend buying this tincture from Blessed Herbs. They produce quality products. Their phone number is: 800-489-4372. An 8 ounce bottle of this tincture costs approximately $ 40. Take approximately 1/2 to 3/4 of an ounce of the tincture every day. Good echinacea should numb your mouth when you take it, if it doesn't then it is inferior and should be discarded. Divide the dosage up in thirds and take it on an empty stomach. Typically good tinctures are made using grain alcohol to extract the essence from the plant. If you don't like or can't use alcohol simply boil about 1/2 of the contents of the liquid away. This will get rid of any alcohol but leave the echinacea behind. Then take half of the recommended dosage because the echinacea will be twice as concentrated.

One important consideration is to take echinacea for two weeks, skip a week, then repeat this pattern. Echinacea if taken constantly looses its effectiveness.

Germanium: Germanium is found in minute quantities in many foods including garlic, mushrooms and ginseng. Germanium functions by increasing the oxygen supply to the to the cells from the blood supply. Cancer cells do not like oxygen. additionally germanium increases the macrophage and increases the number of antibody forming cells, T cells, B-lymphocytes and killer cells. It seems to stimulate the body's immune system. Organic genmanium has been successfully used in the treatment of cancer , it stimulates the production of interferon and promotes antitumor activity. When organic germanium is used to treat cancer the dosages can be as high as 2.5 grams per day. 6

Garlic

Among onion's health promoting properties are its anti-cancer capabilities. In a book written by Lisa Turner called, Meals that Heal, Turner cites organosulfur compounds, and nitrosamine-blocking abilities as the likely factors. Organosulfur compounds occur in onions, garlic, leeks, scallions and shallots. Of all of these compounds, diallyl disulfide may be the most potent agent in blocking or suppressing tumor growth. Lisa also mentions the flavonoid, quercetin, a potent plant antioxidant as an additional reason for onion's cancer-fighting capabilities. Studies by the National cancer Institute have shown that onions may inhibit the growth of cancer cells. It is interesting to note that white onions do not contain quercetin.

Garlic and onions has been sited numerous time for their ability to block certain types of cancer primarily those of the gastrointestinal track and leukemia cells. The results of one study done in the Netherlands included 120,852 men and woman between the ages of 55 and 69. Their conclusion was that people that consumed more that one-half and onion per day were 50 percent less likely to develop stomach cancer. 10

As published in the journal "Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy" (April 1985 p. 485-486, an intact garlic bulb does not contain allicin but rather its precursor, which is hydrolyzed into allicin, pyruvate and ammonia by the enzyme allinase when the tissue of the garlic bulb is broken or cut. One of the major benefits of garlic has been linked to allicin. Allicin, which is relatively unstable transforms into a variety of other sulfur-containing substances one of which is ajoene which itself has been researched to have certain anti tumor and cytotoxic actions.

In 1989, the internationally renowned cancer journal, Oncology, published exciting studies that were conducted in the Biochemistry Department at Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine in Japan. These studies cited garlic extracts as inhibiting some of the earliest reactions in the development of chemically-induced cancer. Additionally a study published in the, Indian Journal of Experimental Biology, in May of 1990 further verified the anti-cancer potential of garlic in response to chemically induced skin cancer. 11

Research done at the Western Reserve University in 1957 had employed the raw garlic enzyme, alliinase, to prevent the growth of tumors in mice. Dr. Lau, of Loma Linda School of Medicine in California, who has become one of the leading researchers and studied the beneficial effects of garlic. He believes that garlic is one of the best natural weapons in the fight against cancer.

Royal Jelly

In the book, Health from the Hive, the late Carlson Wade quotes nutritionist Steve Choi relative to royal jelly: "Royal jelly stimulates the adrenal glands and metabolism, giving more energy, rapid recovery from fatigue and enhanced sexual capabilities."

Thirty years of royal jelly clinical study and lab experiments in China reveal that this power house supplement strengthens the body and increases stamina. Actually, the Chinese discovered the incredible dietary value of royal jelly in the early 1950s and, indirectly, introduced it to the rest of the world. Individuals who are weak or feeble usually must take in 300 mg of royal jelly daily for at least three months before their strength and stamina return. Not only are energy and vitality restored, the immune system and endocrine glands also appear to be revved up by royal jelly. A strong immune system repels the many bacterial and viral diseases which middle aged and older people, particularly, seem to contract.

Research by one of Europe's out standing investigators in royal jelly, Prof. Boyer de Belvefer, French biologist, reveals that a boosted immune system helps to manage asthma, bronchitis, tuberculosis and many other respiratory diseases. Researchers B. Filipic and M. Likvar, medical doctors at the University of Sarajevo in former Yugoslavia, find that royal jelly is a powerful bactericide and viracide—even more powerful when blended with propolis, another product from the hive. Royal jelly has also proved effective in fighting colds and flu.

The World Garlic Congress held in 1990 in Washington D.C. presented papers by American and Japanese scientists showed without a doubt that garlic is effective in the prevention and treatment of cancers of the breast, stomach, colon, bladder and skin. 12

Conigar and is composed of two herbs, back seed (Nigella sativa) and garlic Allium sativum Both have been repeatedly studied at the research unit of the Panama City Clinic and found to have an immune enhancing effect when tested in human volunteers.

Garlic is well known as an anti-oxidant. Black seed is also called 'black caraway' and 'black cumin' and has been used as a natural remedy for an estimated 4.000 years but now we know the reason it works is the high content of gamma Linoleic acid (GLA).

According to Dr. Elkadi, director of the Panama City Clinic in Panama City Flordia, a good immune enhancing program can help or even result in a complete cure for cancer, and when conventional therapies are still effective there is all the more reason to add a good immune enhancing program to maximize the benefits and minimize the side effects.

Astragalus

The herb astragalus is the root of Astragalus membranaceou, and related species that grow in Northern China and Mongolia. This herb is commonly used in Chinese cooking. Astragalus has been researched in connection with its immune enhancing ability as well as other medicinal purposes. The active ingredients in Astraglus are polysaccharides, flavones and sterols. Significant immune system enhancement such as promotion of leukocytes, increased phagocytosis and transformation of lymphocytes have been noted in laboratory studies with animals. In cancer patients, survival rates are more than doubled when astragalus is given along with chemotherapy or radiotherapy. It has also been shown that antibodies and interferon levels increase with the use of astragalus.

Clinical Evaluation with cancer patients with cancer of the liver and lungs, at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences were given astragalus during the course of traditional cancer therapy for several months. The one year survival rates increased from 28% for patients on radiation therapy to 71% for those on radiation and Astragalus.
